From working as a bartender, bank teller or journalist to becoming a webcam model; this is the story of many women after the pandemic struck.
The devastating impact of the coronavirus on many industries was quite unprecedented and many women—in a bid to sustain their finances—have now found a new ‘career path’ as webcam models, sharing content over the internet from the comfort of their homes.
The COVID-19 crisis caused a lot of disruption by changing the way we experience intimacy and interact with other people. With lockdown measures fully enforced, the internet was the only way left for people to find a human connection and this provided a lucrative means of income for many webcam models.
One female journalist who was made redundant due to the effect of the pandemic chose to create a profile on the popular adult webcam platform BongaCams. Her goal was to investigate how lucrative it was and what it would feel like performing to a content-hungry audience.
Literally speaking, her actions paid off big time as she recorded an income of $1,920 in just a few days of working on the platform. More surprisingly, she was in complete control of her schedule by working for just a few hours daily and making exclusive broadcasts wearing only a simple swimwear, without having to go nude or engage her audience in sexual conversations.
Speaking to the journalist, other models who have been working on BongaCams long before the pandemic came, added that the site is perfect for women looking to make some extra money from the comfort of their homes without needing any special skills.
Today, more unemployed women are registering on these camming platforms and offering their audience various private or public performances just to earn enough money to take care of themselves and their family during these times. The money is providing a real alternative for these women who unfortunately lost their livelihoods due to COVID-19.
“A lot of the girls in this line of work aren’t spending their money on cocaine and high heels,” said a producer who manages webcam models in a report. “Most of them are supporting their families. During the pandemic, I think there are a lot of families eating off webcamming.”
With a good internet connection, a mobile phone or a computer, becoming a webcam model on BongaCams is quite easy, since all you have to do is create an account and wait a few hours for it to be approved—after meeting the legal age requirement.
